Darbandsar Ski Resort
Darbandsar ski resort is is one of the best private slopes in Iran, located at Darbandsar Village 60 kilometers north east of Tehran in middle of Alborz Mountain Range near Mount Damavand. This small resort is on the slopes Mount Seechal, it is one of the 7 major ski resorts near capital and after the Shemshak Zone, it is the second most challenging resort in the region.
You may ski from Dizin to Darbandsar, but go back by car! If you like to ski continuously without losing your time in lifts queues, this resort is the best choice, because it is not crowded even during the peak of ski season, a great number of ski lovers attend this field.

It also offers some good slopes for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for holidays and weekends, the area is a heaven for extreme skiers, a suitable place for acclimatization and practicing before attempting ski mountaineering in Mt Damavand Iran.
The Darbandsar resort is located in th Rundbar e Ghasran tourist mountain zone which includes some majestic tourist zone such as Maygoon, Zagoon, Shemshak, Darbandsar, Fasham, Oushan.
There is a great icefall closed to Darbandsar village called Hamaloon icefall, which is an ideal place for ice climbing, so there are alot to enjoy yourself.

How to go, Transportation to Darbandsar
Fly to Tehran IKA International Airport and then travel by road to the Darbandsar Village . Only accessible by road and can be reached by coach or car. The journey time is about 60 to 90 minutes drive from Tehran, about 60 Km. After a heavy snowfall, snow chains are often necessary for the last part of the journey. There is no railway station in the area, the closest railway station is at Tehran.
Note in winter after a snow or stone avalanche the Dizin Road may be closes to traffic.

Ski-Shemshak

Shemshak Ski Resort
Persia usually isn’t the first place skiers think of when taking into account ski destinations, but Iran is not just desert and sahara, there are some 4,000 meters plus mountains and 16 ski resorts. Shemshak resort lies in the clean and cool air of Alborz Mountain Range, due to its high altitude and the dry air, it has high snowfall and a great high quality powder to satisfy advanced ski lovers, it is the 2nd largest winter sport center and piste in Iran after Dizin complex, while Dizin slopes are suggested for beginners and intermediates.

The Shemshak slopes are quite steep and graded the hardest and steepest slopes in Iran, and has the most challenging runs in the country, a good place for more advanced skiers with many mogul runs, variety of slopes, chair lifts, a selection of ski pistes.

You may meet Iran’s best skiers in this resort, a good place for practicing and acclimatization before ski mountaineering in Mt Damavand 5671m. This resort is equipped with lighting facilities which allows skiing at night under floodlight. Shemshak, the second ski resort in Iran was built in 1958.
Snowboarders are welcome to tackel the slopes, about one third of the people on the slopes are boarders. The terrain is suitable for more adventurous boarders. There are no queues, except inIranian weekends. With an altitude of 3050m, the resort is just 60 Km northeast of the capital of Tehran, closed to Mount Damavand.

Dizin Ski Resort
When foreign tourists think of traveling to Iran, at first they may think of visiting Iran deserts and not ski resorts, most of them do not know that Iran has so many excellent skiing resorts for winter sport , there are 16 ski resorts in Iran and Dizin is the most famous one.

Located in the north west of Tehran in the middle of Alborz mountains near the summit of Mt Damavand, the Dizin Ski Resort is the best and the largest piste in Iran and the Middle East, Due to its high altitude 3600m and slopes which face northward, Dizin receives great amount of snow each year.

This skiing and snowboard resort is an ideal place for the snow lovers who are looking for less explored place for their vacation and a fine place for acclimatization for those who want to climb the peak of Mt Damavand 5671m by ski. This ski region is administered by Iran Ski Federation.

Due to the size of slopes, technical and physical qualities and other feature, Dizin and Shemshak Resorts were the first ski center in Iran to recieve official recognition from the International Ski Federation ( FSI ). These two resorts are famous for the length of their runs and length of their season which usually lasts from November to May. By obtaining a single ticket one can make use of all the pistes, telecabins, telesieges and other facilities for 1 day.

Grass Ski
Skiing on the same piste in the summer, on the grass rather than the snow, the sport activity in the area is not limited to winter, Disin is an important grass-ski centre for the summer too. The first international grass skiing competitions was held at Dizin Complex In 1996 by the International Ski Federation with participation of some famous countries.

Ski Classes and Courses
Step by step training courses are avalable to the trainees, beginner who require some training in either Alpine skiing or snowboarding can take part in these classes and take lessons from qualified trainers and can work with a coach next to the pist.

Popularity and Crowd in Iranian weekends
Because of its popularity, Dizin Resort is crowded in Iranian weekends (Thursdays and Fridays), try to avoid these day if possible, otherwise you may spend more of your time in telecabins queues rather than skiing on the piste.

In winters, this resort is open during the weekdays and in summer, it is only open in Iranian weekends (Thursdays, Fridays) and national holidays.

Facts and figures
It has various pists of different kinds and grades and you can ski in many different styles during the same day. There is also a beginner’s pist for newcomers.Skiing in Dizin is good for the less experienced skier; 50% of runs are suitable for beginners, 40% for intermediate and 10% for advanced skiers.The air is drier than at European resorts, making some excellent powder. Many snowboarders can be found on the slopes.With only 2 to 3 hours of driving away from Tehran many people prefer not to stay there overnight. Cheap tickets by European standards and rarely have queues except at the weekends. Dizin resort is far more relaxed than the rest of Iran.

How to go there
The only access to the resort is by road, the roads are of an adequate standard, but not up to those in Europe standard.

Via Chalus (Chaloos) Road 124 km
You can easily reach the resort from Tehran by taking a private taxi or bus, about 2-3 hours of drive from Tehran.

Via Shemsak Road 55 km
There is a shorter route which brings you in 1 or 2 hours but may be closed in winter seasons after a heavt snow.

Transportation to Dizin
If it has been snowing a lot, chains are required for the last part of the journey.
The easiest way to reach Dizin is to fly to IKA airport Tehran Iran, then proceed to the resort by coach or car.
The nearest international airport to Dizin resort is IKA airport at Tehran. Flights arrive here from many major European cities and other destinations including China, India, Japan and neighbouring Persian gulf countries as well as internal flights. The nearest train station to Dizin resort is at Tehran.

Ski-Tochal


Tochal Ski Resort
Located near the summit of Mount Tochal 3970m, Tochal Ski Resort is one of the main winter sport center for skiing and snowboard in Iran, it is the closeset ski resort to Tehran and because of its neiggourhood to the capital it is very popular with the single daytrip skiers. This resort is the 5th highest resort in the world and has a gondola (telecabin) lift 7.5 Km long which is one of the longest in the world. It takes about 50 minutes to go from the first station to the last station by car cable.

Tochal Resort is one of the best practice and acclimatization places for those who intend to do skiing and mountaineering in Mt Damavand, a very comfortable way to become accustomed to Iran ski and climate in a short form itinerary, in the first days of your itinerary and your arrival day in Tehran and Iran you may use this resort.

The resort has two chairlifts and one T-bars. There are seven stations on the telecabin route, Tochal resort is located at the seventh station, there are restaurant at fifth and the seventh staion, and a nice hotel called Tochal Hotel at the base of the resort 3550m, with 30 rooms and suites. Depending on the climate and the amount of snowfall, the season usually starts in November and lasts until April or even June.

Information
Damavand is a dormant volcano, looking like Fujiyama in Japan but much higher, with no eruption in historical times, it is also believed to be an extinct silent volcano, it has is a crater about 200 meters across with yellow sulfurous rocks and pumice stones and some sulfuric gas at about 5600 m, making some problem for climbers. It is the highest peak in Iran and Middle East....

Terms of Payment
Terms of payment and deposit policy for Mt Damavand tours

A - For Shared Tours
To be registered in MDG shared tours event calendar, all participants are requested to pay 50 Euros per person of their total amount as registration fee to MDG account as deposit 30 days prior to departure date unless otherwise specified, and pay the remaining balances in cash in Euro on the first day of the tour.

B - For Private Tours
For registration in MDG private tours, participants are requested to pay 50 percent of their total cost as deposit 30 days prior to departure date unless otherwise specified, and pay the remaining balances in cash in Euro on the first day of the tour.

C- Services
For any of our services or a partial-tour, it is necessary to pay 50 percent of the total cost as deposit 30 days prior to strating date unless otherwise specified, and pay the remaining balances in cash in Euro on the first day of the trip.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

A - For Shared Tours and Services

The 50 Euro registration fee deposit is non-refundable in case of any cancellation or postponement. If there are any other deposit payments by the participants, full refunds, will be provided 20-days prior to the course, trek and/or expedition date and 50% refunds will be provided 20 days or less prior to the course, trek and/or expedition date. All refund requests must be asked by email and be received in our office within the period, as stated above.
Participants whose balances are not received by the 30-day deadline as stated above, risk forfeiture of their place on the expedition.

B - For Private Tours
In case of any cancellation or postponement, full refunds will be provided 20-days prior to the course, trek and/or expedition date and 50% refunds will be provided 20 days or less prior to the course, trek and/or expedition date. All refund requests must be asked by email and be received in our office within the period, as stated above.
Clients whose balances are not received by the 30-day deadline as stated above, risk forfeiture of their place on the expedition.

Note: MDG reserves the right for any changes in itinerary.
